The more common members of the deer family are known as reindeer, caribou, moose, elk, white and black tailed deer, and red deer. They are found worldwide except for Australia. Excepting caribou, only male deer, or stags, develop bony outgrowths of the skull known as antlers. Antlers are used as offensive/defensive weapons during the breeding season. Stags measure up to 7.7 feet high at the shoulder, are able to leap an 8 foot barrier, are capable of sprinting at 35 miles per hour, and have night vision equal to human day vision. Adaptable, swift and strong, cunning and regal, the stag has evolved into a symbolic "anti-predator" with genetic behavior and physical ability that maximize their survivability. It is for these reasons that the stag has always been a premier game animal.
Proud and majestic, the Stag on our money clip gazes defensively from a snowy background of evergreens and rising mountains.
