The fleur-de-lis, a stylized version of the 'flower of the lily', became the armorial symbol of French royalty beginning with the twelfth century reign of King Louis V1 or VII. As a symbol of the kings of France, the three petals of the fleur-de-lis came to signify perfection, light and life. English kings incorporated the fleur-de-lis into their coats of arms as a gesture symbolizing their claims to the throne of France. Historically, the fleur-de-lis symbol has been used to represent the Holy Trinity, and the Roman Catholic Church has chosen the lily as an emblem of the Virgin Mary.

Four deeply engraved Fleur-De-Lis adorn our inlaid band.
