In Greek mythology, Eros is the god of love, known for firing his arrows of passion into the hearts of gods and men. Eros, as the son of Aphrodite, goddess of love, himself fell in love with Psyche, who is viewed as the "soul" in Greek religion, and as a beautiful princess in Greek mythology. Their union became a symbol for eternal love.
