Approximately 2500 years ago, the Celts, early inhabitants of Europe, England and Ireland, developed an artistic style emphasizing detailed patterns of entwined spirals and curves with highly stylized versions of plants and animals. As a decorative motif, these design elements adorned ancient manuscripts and works of bronze, gold and stone. These classical designs have since become emblematic of the "Golden" period of Celtic artistry.
