In classical Greek architecture, three carefully proportioned styles of columns serve as structurally functional and decorative components of early building architecture. The classical column has three basic design elements: base, shaft and capital. From the base, the fluted shaft tapers gradually upward and culminates in the capital, the decorative and structural transition between the column and the rectangular entablature atop the column. One of the early orders of architecture, the Ionic Order became fully developed by the sixth century B.C. and is characterized by a spreading scroll-shaped capital as its dominant feature. The Ionic column evolved on the western shores of Asia Minor in the Ionian colonies of Greece. Grecian Ionic columns have a base and are proportionately slender with their height generally about nine times the column's lower diameter. In its developed form, the Ionic column was designed with twenty-four flutings.

Our Grecian Ionic Column band features a carved, intricately detailed single Ionic column with an opening scroll at the capital.
