Mammoths were giant, wooly elephants measuring fifteen feet high at the shoulder. Until becoming extinct about ten thousand years ago, mammoths roamed throughout northern Asia, Europe and North America. As the main source of food, clothing, shelter and adornment, mammoths had a central role in the early development of human culture. Because of their sheer size, mammoths could only be hunted in groups, thereby forcing early man to adopt cooperative hunting strategies. These early northern hunting societies developed a seasonal rhythm and belief systems all revolving around the imperial mammoth.

Our Mammoth ring features a charging imperial mammoth that appears to be emerging from the sides of the ring.
