The greatest contribution of the Toltecs was the building of the great temple center known as Teotihuacan or "Place of the Gods," located north of Mexico City. It was believed that the sun and the moon were born in this valley. With the magnificent Pyramid of the Sun, the largest structure in Pre-Columbian America, as focal point, the Toltecs constructed a highly structured and organized urban complex over two thousand years ago with planned avenues and designated residential areas based upon a person's position in the social hierarchy. Unmatched in size and complexity, Teotihuacan was the dominant urban center of classical Mesoamerica until its destruction in the 8th century.

Conquerors of the Maya, the Toltec warriors wore elaborate feathered helmets as represented by the Teotihuacan Warrior carved in profile on our cufflinks, studs and tie tacks.
