Scrappy and fierce, the bobcat (so named for its bobbed tail) can weigh up to twenty-four pounds and reach twenty-eight inches in length. More dominant that its cousins the lynx and the wildcat. The bobcat prefers shrublands and open forests and ranges from Canada to Mexico. Usually feasting on the rabbit family, the bobcat has on occasion been known to bring down a fully-grown deer.
