For nearly five hundred years, from 800 to 300 B.C., Etruscan civilization prospered in the northern Italian region that later came to be known as Tuscany. The Etruscans governed themselves as a confederation of twelve city states, each ruled by an aristocrat and all sharing a common culture and language. Collectively known as Eturia and sharing a common border with Rome, the Etruscans were a highly energetic people with a lust for life and beauty. After their twelve city states were destroyed and/or absorbed by the Romans, the Etruscan people all but vanished. The Etruscan language was never really deciphered, and so much of what we know about them is from Roman legends. Early Rome was greatly influenced by Etruscan culture. From the Etruscans came gladiators and chariots, religious cults, advanced architecture and engineering, reverence for the arts, military standards, dress and parades, and borrowed language.

Our Etruscan Noblewoman ring personifies the grace and majesty of the Etruscan nobility.
