Known for the prowess as seafaring warriors and explorers in the eighth through the eleventh centuries, the Vikings of Norway, Denmark and Sweden had a profound effect on the Western world from the isles of England and Ireland to the shores of Asia Minor, Greenland, Iceland and Newfoundland. In fact, the word "Viking" came to connote a courageous seaborne raider who fought with extraordinary valor, strength, ferocity and even brutality.
Our Viking Ship ring boldly depicts the Viking ship, the fleetest vessel of its time. Through the finger hole, one can see a miniature Viking ship navigating by the moon and the stars. A Greek key design (a decorative element in ancient Greece) is employed as a border. It is an ancient ideogram meaning "sea voyages" or "ocean travels with safe returns".
